What is ACM-W?


The Association for Computing Machinery's Council on Women in Computing (ACM-W) supports, celebrates, and advocates internationally for the full engagement of women in all aspects of the computing field, providing a wide range of programs and services to ACM members and working in the larger community to advance the contributions of technical women. ACM-W is an active organization with over 36,000 members.

ACM-W works for the empowerment of women and to improve the working environments in computing by encouraging them and giving instances on how women in computing are contributing to the society by working side by side with them.

What We Do


We encourage the participation of women in computing and promoting the concept of women's participation in computing with a goal to achieve equal representation in the field.


ACM's officially recognized chapter in National University of Science and Technology (NUST) located in Islamabad, Pakistan. ACM NUST Chapter works as a non-profit with students from various professions as its organizing members.


The goal of ACM-W is to engage women in activities and different projects that are projected to achieve benchmarks in the field of computing.

Girls Who Code

The event focussed on battle of speed and logic, a competition where every girl can get her hands dirty in lines of code. Whether you are in it to win, or just to test your limits, an opportunity for girls to excel and compete among themselves. The icing on the cake is ACM-W’s social event where you can enjoy bonfire and different food stalls.

Women's Day Celeberation

The event was conducted in collaboration with IEEE-WIE and SGA to recognize the superwomen amongst us and inspire empowerment and equality.The day embarked with an engaging talk session with Pakistani women who paved their way in techno-world. A series of events were conducted in this connection including Myth Busting Ladies (an online competition) which was followed by a movie night.

Be Her Partner

ACM-W and IEEE-WIE collaborated for this event which encapsulated the topic of women empowerment through partnership. Ms. Tahira Malik talked about how women empowerment can only be made possible with the equal partnership and commitment of the woman's immediate family and her circle of close friends.
